Before we dive into the recipe, a quick note on ingredients: Ensure all components are pet-friendly by carefully reading the labels. While we provide guidance, it's essential to take responsibility for the ingredients you choose. When in doubt, consult your veterinarian for advice.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Pumpkin Puree (homemade or store-bought dog-friendly puree)
  • 1 Large Banana, Mashed
  • 2 Eggs, Refrigerated
  • 3 Cups Whole Wheat Flour

Optional: Peanut Butter (ensure it's dog-safe without xylitol, a sugar harmful to dogs) for decoration and an extra tasty twist.

Method:

Preheat and Prepare:

Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius.

Line a baking tray with baking paper.

Mix the Goodness:

In a mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree and mashed banana.

Crack in the refrigerated eggs and mix until well combined.

Get Doughy:

Gradually mix in the whole wheat flour until the dough forms. It should be doughy but not too sticky. If it's too sticky, sprinkle in a bit more flour and mix thoroughly.

Shape and Cut:

Dust your work surface with flour and roll out the dough to just over half a centimeter thickness.

Use your favorite cookie cutter to cut out shapes and place them about an inch apart on the prepared baking tray.

Bake and Watch:

Pop them into the preheated oven and bake for around 20 minutes or until golden brown. Check the consistency by lightly touching them. Depending on your oven, they might need an extra 5-10 minutes.

Cool and Store:

Once baked, let them cool completely. Store in an airtight container for up to a week in a cool, dry place. You can also freeze them for up to 2 months.

Peanut Butter Drizzle (Optional):

If you're adding the peanut butter drizzle, melt the peanut butter (ensure it's safe for dogs, without xylitol) with coconut oil until smooth.

Transfer the mixture into a piping bag or a sandwich bag with a small hole snipped in one corner.

Drizzle over the cooled treats and refrigerate or freeze to set the drizzle properly.

Enjoy making these wholesome treats for your furry friends! Remember to always check the ingredients for pet-friendliness and consult your vet if unsure.
